Happy Lookout, Highmile, I'm coming for you!!

Hey Highmile! I'm just giving you fair warning that I'm catching up to you!! The old girl just turned 300,000 miles and is still running like a top! You are a big inspiration to me.

I'm the original owner, so we're slowly growing old together. And as I inadvertently told the young man driving the Uber that recently took me to pick her up from the shop, she looks great, but we both need a good wax job!! Since I'm a woman, it was a little awkward, to say the least!!

2001 SL2 manual - original owner - remanufactured engine at 228k miles, December 2015
1992 SL1 manual - bought used in '93, totaled in '00 at 170k miles, drove it cross-country a lot!

Congrats on the 300k milestone! Just a heads up. Someone I knew passed the 300k mark and was shooting for 400k on his but the timing chain failed. That ended his run.

I'm wondering if I should change my screen name to LoMile. I might hit 120k next year.

Only 441k to catch me....

You are getting into the miles that things will need to be replaced that most never have to worry about. The shifter knob on mine is polished smooth, the window crank has been replaced as well as the window regulator.

As you know and most here do too, one of the parts about owning a Saturn is parts are reasonable and repairs are as well. Many repairs are simple enough that even the inexperienced can take them on themselves with the help of the forum and YouTube.

Catch me if you can....

lolz, I love this thread. Congrats, Upstate Saturn!

Also sitting this one out, took the insurance and plates off my SC2 a year ago. I had just decided to try a 12k OCI (using Mobil 1 extended, M209 filter) and had just changed the oil when the "work from home" order came in, so maybe 100 miles on the oil?

I do need to throw the charger on it, start it up and let it idle . . . it's been a while. Every time I drive it up and down the driveway, I can hear the rust scraping off the brakes.

I'm sitting at about 306,000 miles. Highmile has driven his car so much that the two of us combined still don't equal him.

I'm considering putting a power drill on the speedometer cable and letting it run for a few years to catch up. Is that considered cheating?
