Default 1997 SC2 - Hood release broken.

I got into my car yesterday - a '97 Saturn SC2 - and attempted to lift the hood release lever, which is where my trouble started. Initially it was stuck, but then it popped up and now it lifts too easily. Now there's zero tension when I lift it and I can't get under my hood. I imagine the cable broke somewhere, so I guess my question is how do I open the hood AND if the hood release cable is broken, can I get a replacement? Where can I get one?

Se richpin06a video.

This is for your year even. Once hood open you will need to replace cable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDPyIV9BwRU

For gen 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpbuLmq5ppc

You use the old cable to pull the replacement into place and you have to unwrap the 3 miles of tape off of the fire wall grommet to do this easily.

Yeah, I saw these videos earlier. I guess I was looking for more options. Thanks.

Nope, that is why you keep that latch lubed and clean, do not oil, use a dry lube.
