Not sure how much your dealer is asking, but mine used to charge $95. Now they've marked them down to about $50 for 95 and prior years. You could scavenge in junkyards for one, or contact Joe Cutrone, he runs a Saturn salvage yard. Mention that I sent ya!

Is the armrest for the 95 sl1 the same as the 91-94's? I know they redesigned the interior for 95.
I have a grey armrest for 91-94. If it will fit, I will sell it. The cup holder is broken but otherwise looks great.

No, the center console armrest/storage compartment is different between the 1991 - 1994 model years and the 1995 model year. Yes, the interior was redesigned for the 1995 model year.

I bought the one in my 1993 SL2 from Joe about 3 years ago. It was used and about $60 plus $12 for shipping. It looked almost as good as a brand new unit. My local Saturn retailer charged $100+ for this when I bought my car back in 1992; today they want even more! Try Joe or a local parts yard...

Bought mine from a local yard for $5. Good as new.

It replaces the one I bought from the same yard a year prior for $5. The only thing is that this one had a broken hinge and is not lockable since I'm assuming they had to pry it apart after the accident. The hinge was super-glued back together but didn't survive the winter. The color is black with some discoloration. It also does not have the little coin holder section. If after reading all that, you still want it, all it will cost you is shipping.

95 to 99 have the same armrest console. I bought my 99 SW2, which didn't have one, and so I popped the one out of my 95 SL2 before I sold it. It's a direct bolt-on. They changed the interior again for 2000, though, so newer ones don't work.

And yes- I have seen some on e-Bay before. Expensive, though. I'd definitely go with the junkyard route.

I could use one too, for my 99 SL2. Do they have a compartment in them? If they do, is it big enough to fit a 10 disc CD changer?

I don't think it's big enough. Take a look at the center console, specifically the back half, the tray-like thing that runs alongside the e-brake lever. Now imagine the sides of that being about 8 inches high, with a lid on top. That's about the size of the compartmant. Plus, consider the thickness of the walls, which robs you of another inch of width all the way around.

I think it holds about 5 jewel cases- or maybe 4 (my wife's out with the car, so I can't look). It's not super-practical for anything but maybe a few CD's and a cell phone and a tire gauge.

Crap, that's what I figured... Oh well. I guess I'll have to figure out someplace else to put the Changer. I sill want the armrest, though.

Hey Andy, how's cougar working out for you? Do you have any problems with the sway bar? My friend has one, and he thinks his sway bar may be going.

I love the Cougar. I was really kinda scared to go down the Ford road, but darn it, it was PRETTY, and I got a great deal on it, and it's positively LOADED. The suspension is tight- the thing handles like a DEMON for a 2800-pound beast. Mine I bought used, and I have over 50000 miles on it now. No major problems. The V6 is VERY detuned, so I'm in the process of "waking it up", since I'm no longer under warranty.

Really fun car to drive with the 5-speed manual, though. And fast enough, once you get it moving.

But I think my 99 SW2 is quicker off the line.

Is the SW a 5 speed? I raced my friends cougar with my auto SL2 on the highway, and I got my ass kicked. Is there a forum for cougars like this one?

Speaking of center consoles, I want to turn my L series one into a leather arm rest. Ive seen a couple made for aftermarket, but nothing for the L series. Any idea how I would go about doing this or where i could purchase stock leather?

its shocking the Cougar comes from ford... it sure doesnt seem like it. They are nice cars!

Wow, do you still have the address or number about this local yard? I assume it's in NJ, isn't it?

$5 a piece for the armreset is a big steal!

Qlara, I bought it from a yard down in MD. Brandywine Auto I didn't have any luck with their phone reps, since they simply said, if you find it, you find it. Their Saturn selection is descent, about 10 cars usually, all years, but armrests are really hard to come by there. If I spot another one, I'll definitely sell it on the board, at cost.

YES, the SW is a 5-speed. I would never consciously pay green money for an auto-tragic.

The Cougar does have a GLORIOUS top end. Mine, with the sport package, doesn't even come with a speed limiter! But it's a brute to get a launch on. Once you get the hulk going, though, it's a fast car.

As for forums, I'm always at the forum on www.fastcougar.com. There's also a great forum at www.teamneco.com (NECO being "new edge cougar owners"). The aftermarket is healthy for Ford V6's, so lots of people are modding the crap out of those cars.

But I always have to have a Satty, even if I tell my wife it's HER car (I just ordered a new performance intake for it )...
