2004 Vue - First Saturn

Well I just bought a 2004 Saturn Vue 3.5l AWD. It only has 58000 miles on it! Brand new goodyears as well. Only Paid 7500.00 for it. It is silver. Pics to come.

Sound like a good deal?

What should I do to it first? Anything in particular? I am going to have the brakes checked and an alignment done, it pulls to the right.

Let me know because I love do it yourself mods to vehicles.

Congrats on the purchase, sounds like a fair deal considering the low mileage.

You won't have to worry about the 100k service for quite some time. I can't imagine it having many problems with the motor and tranny anyways being so young..however, depending on location(rust belt or not) you might want to take a peek at the underneath.

I'm in Oklahoma so rust should not be an issue. It was garage kept and driven by an older lady who passed away and her son came out and did an estate sale and sold everything cheap.

I have noticed a couple of things, the inside trunk release latch is broken. Not the cable, the plastic latch. Wondering how much it will cost to replace that little piece of plastic?

Also the windshield washers don't squirt out much liquid, just bubbles. The pump sounds strong so what I have read is some crud collects on a screen in the washer reservoir. I will take that apart and see.

Love the power in that engine!

Just cleaned the sludge out of the windshield washer reservoir. It was an easy 15 minute job. Worked as soon as I tried them.

My question is what was that white sludge in there? It almost looked like paper that was wet and slimy??? Anyway it is done and didn't have to pay a dime to get it done. Always a good thing.

Next is the hood release latch. Upon futher inspection it is the bracket that holds the plastic latch release in place. I may need to go oem to get that part, we will see. I willl post pics when I get a chance.

Have I mentioned that I love this car! So nice and fast, cruises on the highway so nice.

Anyone know of an easy wire near the dash that I can tap into for reverse? A picture would be worth a thousand, thanks.

Check inside rear-view mirror wiring harness for a light green wire. According to wiring diagram this would be only wire inside cabin for back-up light.

Thanks Grumpy! I will get into this weekend and see if I can wire it in. I spent this weekend putting the camera in the unused key lock in tailgate, pretty proud of the job and happy to get the idea from the forum!

Another question... The color on the original dealer sticker that came with the car says it is Silver Nickle. I can't find that color in the touch up paint, any thoughts?

The paint color code will be on service parts sticker - probably on drivers side - rear door - on back edge.

I'm not sure if you'll have much luck finding exact matching colors at parts stores but I've dealt with AutomotiveTouchup.com and love their products and speedy shipping:
