Swapping 2000 SOHC motor for 2001 SOHC motor. Read through the swap guide and it doesn't say anything about the fuel rail being any different for 2000 and 2001 but they are clearly different when you look at them. Do I need to swap the fuel rail from the 2000 engine to the 2001 engine in order for it to work correctly? Or can I just leave everything alone?
Thanks all! |

Shouldn't need to swap anything.
Doesn't really matter though. If you need to swap parts then you swap parts. Remove the old engine and put beside the new. Compare them and everything on them. Swap over as needed.

Can you confirm that the donor engine is a 2001?
What's different about the fuel rails? |

The injectors changed design sometime in the 2001 model year. That will require swapping the intake and rail as the later ones are long and skinny. Might have to swap the engine harness to use the late style injectors in the 2000 also. I think if you have all the parts the new style injector functions the same as the earlier ones, do not know for sure though. If they do then as long as you have the intake that the late rail fits if it does not fit the 2000 intake you are good to go. The 2000 is definitely the old style injector and the 2nd half of the 2001 model year are the new ones.

Yep, engine is in fact from a 2001. Must be a later model from 2001 because it definitely has different injectors than my 2000.
Thanks again OldNuc!! I will be swapping the parts over soon, and boy am I glad I asked!! That could have been a nightmare ![]() |

Use the '00 rail and injectors. No need to change harness.

If you want the new style injectors you get to play with the harness as the plugs are different also. Its a matter of what you want to do as you can go either way.
