oh yeah its a 95 sl 1.9 sohc aftedoing the head gasket a couple weeks ago it mad replacing the head a whole lot easier other head was either cracked or warppedno sure could see and cracks but from whayt i was told the 95 sohc are known for cracking..but anyway the car runs like a top has balls to the walls i cant believe the speed this car has got..i have a contour with a 1.9 and this saturn will make it eat some dust..Im not a ford man or a dodge but i bought the dakota because i liked the style ive owned more chevys by far ....and im thinking i like the saturns as much as i do chevys....oh b4 i forget thank to all that help me make this saturn a success oh and this car has 141,000 miles on it

It's all SOHC heads, not just '95 that are prone to it. After '96, seems slightly less so.

Eggggcelent, it's always good to hear that someone got their junk back in working order by themselves, thus gaining confidence in their abilities and saving a pile of $$$$.


Speaking of which, there's a 96 SC1 here locally that was dropped off for a new head gasket and abandoned. If the guy didn't list it for parts only (i.e. had a title or proper lien) I'd snap it up and swap in a DOHC and a new 5 speed.

Your arent kidding it took me almost six hours tojust pull the head off the first ...but the second time it only took 2 1/2 hours and it was up and running in about 8 +

i spoke too fkn soon I am so fxxkn pizzed its not even funny just went out to the car to run to the store and i popped the hood and checked the coolant and bammmmmm full of oil...wtf .....does that mean that the block is cracked in the cylinders and the head is good?

Where did the new head come from? If from a JY, now you possibly know why it was there.

Just got back from a j/y and bought another engine for $350 w/107,000 miles with a 90 day warrenty im just going to yank out the old and in with the used and hope this works
