Question Driver wiper arm

Hi,
I'm looking to find the driver side wiper arm for my 1999 SW1.

GM part #21058323 are no longer available, do you have any solution?

Thanks

It's pretty much a generic part '91-'00 ('01-'02 are somehow different). Anybody parting out an S-Series or a junkyard will have it.

OK, resurrecting a post for any further ideas.
Has anyone grafted a different cars arms on to an S series?
Sure would be nice to have NEW arms to work with. The metal used on the originals just has not stood the test of time. Both of my last arms have had the mounts disintegrate, like someone used an A1 disintegrating pistol on them!

When you say mounts are you referring to the female splines on the wiper arm attachment points? They get corroded and stripped.

According to the Courtesy Chev site in Pheonix you can still buy new wiper arms if you look up a 2002 model year.

https://parts.courtesychev.com/v-200...her-components

It says fitment is for 2001 and 2002 models but I can't see why they wouldn't fit earlier models. I've compared and temporarily installed a 2001 on a 1999 and 1996 and they worked.

Lookup by part number gets some hits too...

Thanks,
I was just curious if anyone has put something else on. I am currently assessing how much cash I want to spend on the old girl. She got some rust in the rear link bar mounts and every penny I spend is another nail in the coffin. Hence my trying to keep costs down. There are a ton of local sources free if I can find something close.
Cheers,

well,
I am now in Apsley, 2 hours north.
Need to update the sig.
I now have my 2000 sl ready for the scrap yard. Good engine /drivetrain, subframe, etc.
The rust in the rear inner frames is too far gone. Rockers are still good. Anyone need anything? Should start a new thread.

Bringing up an old thread, I am looking for a driver's side wiper arm for a 2000 Saturn SL2. I too found this part number, but every website I've searched online just shows discontinued. Anyone have any other ideas? I've tried to search eBay and other online used auto part sites, without any luck.

This is for my 20 year old son's car in, he is in college, and hoping to keep this car going, but I don't want him driving it without the driver's side wiper. The wiper arm itself broke off of the plastic block that attaches to the wiper stud assy. Hope I'm explaining that correctly. It is not just stripped out, but physically broken.

I have also contacted eBay users with full cars asking if they had ones available (just in case they didn't have a listing for it, got that tip from another user on this forum), but had not had any luck.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

The best source is from a donor car from local pick and pull. Sometimes you may find members on this forum or any of the Facebook groups that will have them from their personal stash or parts car.

I know exactly where it broke, this is one of 2 places....

The other is where it attaches to the wiper transmission post.

That is exactly where it broke, thank you for the picture.

I've tried calling around to the few local places that are nearby. No luck.

Hoping to find something soon, as my son is heading back to college next week, and I hate sending him off without the wiper.

I know that the passenger arm is a bit longer than the drivers side (or at least appears that way), has anyone tried using the passenger side on the drivers side? I have found a few passenger side arms, but don't want to buy if they won't work...

I've hung a few sets of S Series wiper arms on the fence of our local pick n pull for safe keeping in case I need one. There are not too many S Series going through the yards in the last couple years. They've been there for a year now.

Worst case scenario you can do one of 2 things.
  1. What you suggested; trying the passenger arm out on the drivers side.
  2. Change the orientation of the passenger side wiper 80-90 degrees to cover the drivers side and use a longer wiper (24"). This is referred to as the easy mono wiper conversion. There a more difficult procedure to lengthen the sweep of the mono wiper.

That break usually occurs when you accidently release the wiper arm from an outward position (like when cleaning your window off) and let is slam against the window. Most times your lucky and nothing breaks but sometimes you either break the wiper arm or crack the windshield. A windshield is probably easier to find but more costly than replacing a wiper arm.

Not sure I was completely clear in my previous post, but has anyone tried using a passenger side wiper arm on the drivers side, while still keeping the old/existing one in place on the passenger side. I am kind of curious about if there'd be any interference...

It's longer and angled differently. Even if you get the angle better for the driver side you'll have to try various sizes of blades to get a pair that doesn't interfere, and it'll "home" to an odd spot.

If it's not crazy cold out and you can explore a junkyard yourself you'd probably have better luck trying random small GM car's for a more compatible arm. A LOT of generic GM parts are compatible with the S-Series that don't directly officially interchange.

Where are you located? Just happened to mention in another thread that I found 3 x S-series sedans at a JY https://www.catsautoparts.com/custom2

Never been there myself. But in addition to u-pull, they will pull for you. Not sure if they ship, though. May be worth a phone call.
