Question Brake Light Problems

I have a 2000 LS2 sedan 3.0. My problem is the brake lights work, blinkers and reverse light. But the running lights don't work the only way that bulb illuminates is when I press the brake.
What Ive Done So Far:
Fuses Good
The ground that goes into the trunk from the wire clusters, good.
Bulbs good.

So what could this be, why aren't my running lights working?

Any suggestions and information on how to is greatly appreciated.
Thank You!

Default Re: Brake Light Problems

I do not know if this is the problem or not but there was a recall out that replaced the light sockets, my 2000 L had a problem with tail lights not working, the recall fixed that. Find a dealer that still works on Saturns, take the vin and let them check for recall.

If no recall or it has been done already then you have a wiring problem or headlight switch problem. If the Saturn headlight switch is like many you need to get where you can check for power out of the of the switch. They have multiple wires, headlight, tail light, dash light wires, you may not be putting power to the tail light wire.

There are three fuse/breaker panels in that car, one under hood, one each right and left kick panels inside the car, just in case check them all if you have not already done so.

All fuses checked, all three. I was thinking the switch was most likely only because the brake lights work.

The wires will be my next step just because its cheaper then the switch. If all the wires clear ok, then Ill try the switch.

Thank You for your response! Ill keep posted on how things are going for future Saturn owners who have the same problem.

Oh, and the recall, it was already taken care of when it came out

Search past threads. Its most likely a worn out stalk switch, the whole unit needs to be replaced.
