Default LW 300 Cylinder 1 Missfire.

I have a Saturn LW 300 that says cylinder 1 Missfire and I have changed the spark plugs and I am thinking the next step is to change the rear coil pack. Anyone here ever have the same problem.

A similar thing happened to me last spring at 96,xxx miles. A noticeable engine miss came on suddenly and would not go away. Scanner revealed code P0303 (cylinder 3 misfire). Replaced all the original plugs (it was time anyway). The miss was still there same code. None of the old plugs showed any signs of fouling. Pulled the no. 3 spark plug and detected a slight gasoline smell meaning the injector is probably ok. Replaced the 1, 3, 5 coil pack problem solved.

Did you have to reset anything to get it to register after? I changed the coil pack and it runs great but still getting service engine. Have not had the code read or anything yet. Just curiouse if I have to do anything to reset the code. I changed the plugs last spring and then changed the rear ones again this summer and finally dicided to do the coil pack today.

I used my code reader/scanner to clear the check engine light - did not reset anything else. I have heard that disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds or more will clear the light, but never tried it. Maybe someone can chime in on this.
