starts, runs dies
I just replaced my head gasket on 96 SL2, I went to start it, it misfired once, ran for a few seconds, and died. Is my timing off? That's pretty much all I can think that will cause this problem.

Search the sticky about the original coolant sensor and brass replacement.
There are many threads about timing with pictures. Search. What's the history of this engine? Parts replaced, mileage, reason for replacing the head gasket. The engine ran so either timing is fine and something else is causing the random die off or mistiming wrecked a valve/piston........................... You can manually turn the engine over after removing spark plugs and feel for damage.
