When I start my car, I can hear a ticking noise. This noise continues to happen until I begin to accelerate, then comes back when the car returns to idle(at any speed). Any ideas on something I could check, or what might be wrong?

You're probably going to have to give more info such as mileage, past or recent problems, recent changes, etc...I had the same problem recently and it was the timing chain, but I'm sure more info is needed to diagnose your problem. Any difference in power? Can you tell where the sound is coming from?

I concur that likely candidates are worn timing chain or stuck timing chain tensioner. If you have over 120,000 miles on the car, it will likely be the chain.
