Default AC refill from empty

Replaced motor this past winter, had to disconnect AC to do so. Looking to refill now that the warmer weather is upon us.

Problem is the coolant level is so low the compressor is no longer engaged. What is the procedure to jump start the compressor in a Vue? 2006 with 3.5 Honda motor.

If the AC system equalized with atmosphere you'll be better off using vacuum pump to get clean system and make sure there are no leaks.

If you know for sure the system was never compromised here are some notes from when I changed my 3.5 scroll valve.

To enable compressor run with low or no refrigerant ... remove AC clutch relay and jump socket contacts 30 and 87 to engage the clutch.

You need air flow across condenser so you could use a large external fan or remove Cool Fan 1 relay and jump pins 30 and 87 to operate both fans at low speed.

I let my 3.5 suck in two 12 oz can of R134a - the gauges and thermometer were indicating great performance at idle.

According to FSM the system requires 1.5 pounds of refrigerant (so I dumped another 4 oz into the system).

Thank you. I knew you'd come thru, you always do.

30 -87 relay jump, was the method I was racking my brain to try to remember.

We disconnected the lines. We then plugged them and wrapped tightly with tape when we swapped motors. Today when we attached the fill hose there was still minimal pressure so I feel pretty confident the system has not been compromised.

Have a single can but will grab a second before doing this probably on the weekend.

Thanks again.
