Default low temp gauge.

Welp, been fixing my brothers sl2 (00' dohc) today. his temp gauge barely moves. has hot heat. i replaced the stat. Old one didnt have the seal on the base. i thought since it didnt (its been replaced by previous owner) water was getting through and never letting the engine warm up. Well, that didnt fix it.

So i went ahead and got a ects for it. Swapped it out and the gauge now moves from the center before the first mark to right under it. I did notice the pigtail was green and corroded. Im guessing thats my next step? checked pricing...40 bucks? From another search did i found guy saying the iat plug would work. just had different colored wires. If so il grab one at the pick it yard later.

From what I've read, you are on the right track. I've never had to mess with my ECTS, since it is a 2002.

If the connector is corroded it will need to be replaced, solder and heat shrink the new connector onto the harness, If you want to try some brake cleaner to clean the connection it might help but in all reality if the connector is coolant ridden it needs to be replaced....
