Default Raybestos front brake hose Manufacturing defect

I just purchased 2 Raybestos front brake hoses from RA and the female ends that connect to the brake lines are reversed, that is to say the hose that is angled to fit the passenger side has the larger female fitting that is needed for the drivers side, and the hose that is angled to fit the drivers side has the smaller female fitting that is needed for the passenger side.

As such these are unusable, if you need to replace yours steer clear from these.

A second look reveals that as packaged, the female ends are correct for the packaging, and it is actually the ends that connect to the caliper that are reversed.

I need to order 2 new hoses now, RA has Centric and Sunsong, is one better than the other?

I used to be loyal to Raybestos. It's no longer a Connecticut company - it's all chinese. Centric is probably ok, but I avoid their rotors now as they degrade really quickly. We need more US manufacturing.

I have probably used more Centric than Sunsong and have no trouble with either.

They're all pretty much bottom of the barrel in terms of quality, but I used a Sunsong rear brake hose last year and it's been holding up well.

I recommend sunsong.
Both of my 95's have all sunsong brake hoses. The sunsongs came with crush washers (centrics on our family '98 did not), and they are shaped very close to the factory lines.

Any tools to bend them the required way? I'd say at least a 4" vice mounted to something and vice grips. Worth trying if RA won't refund the full item value.

that sure is the problem in every industry, instead of making good parts here everything is outsourced to an openly hostile country we actively encouraged to monopolise those industries out of capitalist cheapness. it's, uh, like a virus.
