Default The search is over..

Ok as I'm sure most of you know, I wrecked my 2000 SL1 back on Feb 7 of this year.

I've been looking everywhere (and I mean EVERYWHERE) for my second Saturn. Plenty of SL2's laying around.... if I feel like paying over 4K for something with over 100K on it.

Desperation is setting in. I need a car and I need one like... yesterday.

Since everyone I talk to says "GeT InStaNt CreDiT!!@ BuY HeRe PaY HeRe!! OuR RatEs ArE LoW LoW LoW!!@$"

Going into debt isn't the answer, and I cannot wait forever.

The point to this whole rant is that the next car I get WILL be a 5 -speed (I cannot drive automatics), but the chances of it being ANY type of Saturn (except SWx) are looking pretty grim.

Sorry guys. I know beggars can't be choosers, but I need something now and I can't wait for that perfect SL2 to come along.

i know how you feel, i have been searching for 2 years for my saturn to come along, and it still doesnt have the options i want. I originally wanted a 5-spd but a great deal came along in an automatic, so i took it. I also wanted a sunroof but every sunroof i've seen has leaked somewhat so this car i have now does not have a sunroof and i can care less.. if i want i'll have it cut in

Hehe, I don't give a flying flip about options. All I want is 5 speed, under 100K. HARD to find with a 3400 - 3700 price range.

My '97 SW2 -- with ~97,000 miles at the time -- was only $1000.

Okay, so it belonged to a family friend....

my 95 was $900 back in October with like 30K miles on the rebuild.

you can find a cheap one out there, it'll take some waiting and you'll have to keep your eyes open but eventaully it'll happen.

I don't care if someone GAVE me a station wagon. I wouldn't ever drive it. Nothing against you SWx owners out there.... but I cannot stand wagons.

LOL! I used to feel the same way. I used to laugh at my dad when he said his next car was going to be an Audi A4 Avant.

But wagons hold a lot of crap... and make better sleepers.

I'm sure if you're polite and tactful, you should be able to talk them down to that.

If nothing else, you could try to offer them $4000 now, and the rest later... it's worth a shot.

Ann Arbor is in Michigan. If you're within 35 miles of Whitehall, PA you're looking at something like a 10 hour drive. I think...

My '98 had 62k on it when I bought it last August for $4,400 from a small lot off Rt 12 in Flemington, NJ. Mine doesn't have a sunroof, but the one you're showing from cars.com is a private seller. That should give you some leverage.

I would check Edmunds and KBB for trade-in values and haggle from there. You might just get that car.

Oh believe me, edmunds.com and kbb.com have been my two favorite sites for the last 3 weeks. The only problem with that blue saturn is that there is only a daytime number, so contact after 4 or 5 EST. is impossible. It's a 1-800 number, LOL.

Yeah, 5k is a bit much, I got that exact car (1999 Navy Blue Saturn SL2 5MT) for $3400 with 70k miles on it. I'm now up to 130k.. woo. Hopefully going to do some autox this summer.

yeah it was 3500 at first. I saved up some more. Anyway, I'm going to have to let this one go, too. It's in Whitehall, PA. I'm Hazleton, PA. That's 305 miles, not 35. :-( I give up.
