Looking for some guidance with my 2001 L100 4cyl Automatic 135,000 miles
The last 40k miles the car would die if the fuel level got below half a tank. Add fuel and it would fire right up, so I just never let it get that low. My grandfather was previous owner who A) would never let it get past 3/4 tank before filling up and B) had it sit in storage for 18 months prior to me getting it a year ago. I think the pump has finally died. Last weekend with a full tank it hesitated on me several times and died once, I was able to restart without adding fuel. Drive home and parked it on level ground where it sat for two days. Now at 3/4 tank it will not start, engine cranks but seems no fuel. Can someone point me to the trouble shooting steps for the fuel system. IIRC There is a fuse and a relay to be checked before dropping tank to check the actual pump. Also after a quick check at my local part stores the price on a replacement pump seems way high. Around $300. Any help on where to find a cheaper yet quality replacement pump would be great. |

When was the fuel filter changed? They are only a couple of bucks and you don't need any special tools. Takes about 10 minutes tops to change it. That would be my first step before splurging out on a new fuel pump and also the associated hassle in changing it, like dropping the tank!
Here's the link to Rock Auto and their fuel pumps. You're looking at about $200.00 from there. A Fuel Filter from RA is about $9.00. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...fuel+pump,6256 |

390K miles (engine replaced @ 375K). Biden/Harris predictions, '21 -'25: weak economy; weaker military; more terrorism; emboldened RED CHINA. Sadly, B & H are proving me correct. |
