2001 SOHC Chocolate Oil No Coolant Loss

My son's 2001 SC1 SOHC has chocolate'ly oil. His oil level is a little too high, we probably topped it off too much. No coolant loss, no oil in coolant, no oil scum floating on top of coolant, and coolant looks clean as a whistle. He is a frequent short trip driver, 7 minutes. Is this a symptom of just short cold trip winter driving with moisture building up and possible over filling, or is there a more nefarious cause. Haven't noticed this till this winter, has had the car 2 years.

What is the coolant temp gauge reading?

The coolant temp gauges on Saturns are fantastically reliable. If it shows less than a couple needle widths above the first quarter marking - when warmed up - you likely have a faulty thermostat - making it run cold.

I have milky oil residue on the oil cap only, I think it is condensation.
If the whole oil is milky, i suspect you have a coolant leak. It means tons of condensation which should not happen on a regular use.

Do you live in a high humidity region?

I think the short 7 minute trips should be the first suspect.
Change the oil and take it for a long weekend drive and then change the oil again. Oil is a cheap flush agent, especially cheap oil.
