2002 SL2
Default Dome Light

Mine randomly fell out while I was driving yesterday and is now dangling by its wires--I tried putting it back in place, but it just doesn't stay--any suggestions as to how to get it back in place? I don't have my Haynes manual with me, and I doubt that that's in there....thanks...

Sunroof or no? I only ask as I dont want you to drill into the glass.

I had that problem and dang near went and bought a new one.
instead I just used a small screw about 1/4 inch long and drilled a pilot hole for it to get started in and screwed it up there.
There is a small flat area next to the bulb, I just removed the bulb, check to make sure the wires were not in the way.
Screwed it in and hasn't fell off yet.

are the clips broken off? Should be two clips one one end, one on the other (the 2 are the ones that often break off...)

If you screw it into the roof with a short screw, you can go anywhere inside of the lens as long as you don't hit the metal conductors for the dome light. Just to let you know, a new dome light from saturn will run you about $23. Like PurdueGuy said, the ususal problem is that the clips on the switch end of the light get brittle and break.

I agree with Henry Ford on automotive color options. I'll paint it any color you like, as long as it's black.

Ya I busted my tabs long ago. Double sided foam tape holds it now.

Are Saturns bug magnets? My old SL1 would always get bees in the back window, where the glass meets the shelf. My 97 Sc2 does the same thing. I still have a dead bee back there because I keep forgetting about it.

I had an insect or two in mine too. Yes, the tabs broke off. I had removed it to install an LED "bulb" from autolumination.com, but it's less bright than the stock incandescent bulb. Also, even after the LED fades out when I shut the door, there appears to be a small amount of current continuing through it...that makes me nervous.

Thanks for the velcro comments. I tried to re-create tabs by epoxy-ing bent paper clips in place of the original tabs, but one fell off and my dome light is lop-sided now.
