Default did it overheat

a few weeks ago i was cruisin down the freeway and the battery light came on. i was kind of happy because i had had some auto tranny problems. but then i finnaly noticed the temp gauge climbing but it was already passing 3/4 mark i got it in neutral and off just before it hit red. i was wondering if this was going to start to cause problems when i pull her back out in the spring. and by the way the belt tensioner siezed up and shot the pully off.

sounds like you just need to put on a new tensioner and belts that might just be the problem i am not sure but the water pump may run off teh same belt as the alternator might just be that

Why were you happy that the battery light came on and/or you had auto transmission problems? Usually that light comes on when your alternator is dead. Have you been driving the car? Might want to get your electrical system checked (usually free).

He was happy because the transmission is electronically controlled and can be affected by a weak charging system. He'd rather have an alternator problem than a transmission problem. So would I for that matter.
