1997 SW2
Default Explain Your Avatar

Here's everyone's opportunity to explain their Avatar.

I'll go first - in no particular order...

The head is Knucklehead Smiff who is a semi-famous ventriloquist dummy operated by Paul Winchell who is probably best known for distinct character voices such as Disney's Tigger and the Tootsie Pop owl (old 1970's commercial that they still run today). I adopted the Knucklehead Smiff image as an Avatar decades ago and converted him to my picture taking SW2 driving icon after joining SaturnFans and starting the Spot & Shot thread. I was taking lots of Spot & Shots back then so I rendered up an 'Odd Rods' looking image for my avatar.

This Avatar was the inspiration for a Halloween costume I created for a running race event a few years back.

Please feel free to go next, or ask any questions.
...
• 1997 SW2 used 12/29/2011 with 124,200 -27 mpg
• 2004 Ion3 new 11/2003 (totaled) 11/2011 -23 mpg
• 1994 SL1 new traded
• 1992 SL2 new traded for above
* 1986 Yamaha ce50 Jog -100 mpg

My avatar is the Sikorsky Cypher UAV.

First flight was in '91 or '92. Initially I was just a software engineer on the project, but ultimately was responsible for all the autonomy and I was also the test pilot. You will find a bunch of my old patents in the chinese drones you can buy on amazon, like headless mode. We flew demos at a bunch of Army bases, HMX1 in Quantico, and the Nevada Test Site. It was way ahead of its time.

My photo is of Bluey, (or Blues). Actually her registered dairy goat name is Blue Permain named after the upstate New York heirloom apple tree.
The elongated white tassels are called Wattles, kinda makes these dark chocolate brown creatures look like a pilgrim outfit when viewed straight on.
We have raised these super nice and very quiet Toggenburg breed of dairy goats for 27 years.

"Who are you and what is your avatar?"

Goggles Pisano, and Goggles Pisano.

Goggles Pisano was Fred Flintstone's alias when he drove Barney Rubble's Rubstone Special in the Indianrockolis 500 without his boss Mr. Slate finding out he skipped work to enter the race.

My avatar was from the #29 Cartoon Network-sponsored Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Steve Grissom.

Everyone drives like they’re bumpdrafting.
Their goal in life is the stay less than 10 feet off the bumper of the car ahead, no matter the speed of the car ahead relative to the posted speed limit.

Avatar, because a small car should, at the very least, be nimble.

I knew I recognized the name Goggles Pisano but couldn't place it. Showing my age, lol

For the longest time, I used the ebay photo of my SL2, showing the cracked and duct-taped fender, mirror, and door. A few years back, I switched it to a screen cap of my fuelly.com dashboard.

I should update it - the idea was to show the two Saturn's MPG. The 3rd gens are EPA rated for 1 mpg more than the 2nd gens, but driving the red coupe makes me drive less efficiently for some reason.

edit: like onlinebiker, have used the same username for a few decades (originated sometime back when Yahoo and Kmart combined to offer free dialup, lol). First started using the "internet" by sending TTY messages on a VAX mainframe, from a college to a hospital in Delta County(?) trying to pick up a nurse by using Monty Python quotes. It didn't work (she had a boyfriend) and I realized I was a nerd, lol

You have a username, but no avatar.

I miss the VAX! All the Cypher UAV flight controls were developed and cross compiled on the VAX.

This is a serious error. When in doubt, always fall back to belting out DLR VanHalen. The chicks dig Hoosiers
