Question Cleaning Alloy Wheels 1994 SL2

Greetings all,

Was wondering what is the easiet way (if there even is an easy way); to clean the insides of Alloy Wheels?

I took my front alloy wheels off of my 94 SL2 last night to see what the brakes looked like (really bad!!) and on the inside of the Alloys...it is just covered with brake dust, and the insides of the wheels just look like crap...

Is there any way to make these alloys look good again both inside and out?

Is there any kind of product that can be used to "resurface" them or whatever you want to call it?

I need to do this with the geartooths on my 91 project car too...

Any suggestions?

Thank you
...

Be careful what chemicals you use on them - many will eat away the protective coatings if there are any. I would start with some dawn/dish detergent and a little elbow grease. A mild degreaser would be my next step - something like simple green. In order to keep them clean, once everything is off a good hand applied coat of wax may help, but they are just prone to getting dirty.
My bmw does the same thing; i have to clean those about every 4 days if i want them without the cool two-toned graphite/alum look...

I've had good luck with my pressure washer using nothing but water.

I also found out it can take a nice slice out of your finger, LOL, so be careful.

One of my co-workers had mentioned this stuff. Next time I am out shopping I'll have to look for this. I guess it goes with the territory if you are going to have alloy wheels.

Thank you for the link

Eagle One wheel cleaner worked on my 92 alloy wheels. I put my Saturn on (4) jackstands and remove the wheels to clean them on both sides. use a brush to remove brake dust from the inside.
