2001 Saturn SL-1, Random brake lights issue

I'm new here, and happy to have found you

I ended up with a SL-1 this year and it runs like a charm. Suddenly last week it started getting really flaky with brake lights. I took it in to the mechanic, worrying it was something electrical, since they worked on and off.

The mechanic thinks that the light assemblies are faulty, since when jiggled or twisted, the brake lights often kick ON. I just took the bulb holders in here and cleaned them with some tuner cleaner/lubricant that I had on hand, and it removed grime and all, but no luck. I was able to get one side to solidly stay in working condition while testing but the other side is really flaky.

Also, my top lights (Rear window) only light up 1 (out of 5?) lights, the one on the driver's side.

I'd love to hear about any advice and/or experience with this before I spend too much money trying new parts, IF i find them at all.

Have you checked the rear splice pack? It should be behind the driver's side taillight in the trunk under the floor mat. It's basically a wiring hub/breeding ground for shorts, so try wiggling that and see if it helps. Just a thought.
