Default brake shoe hold down spring TOOL

I used one of those hold down spring (the one with the washer) tools they sell at the parts store. After putting new shoes the tool will push the hold down spring and the washer but won't turn it (it won't grab) to hold it it place.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to turn the hold down spring or some other tool that will do a better job?

Yeah, I have one of those tools. Sometimes it works...Sometimes not. The old reliable tool for that is common slip joint pliers.

Use your fingers. I bought one of those "tools" too. It was bit large for a saturn and a bit cumbersome, so I just used my fingers. Spring isn't that stiff.
