Default forward gear slamming only after re-learning

I have an interesting problem. I have a 1997 SW2 and have had the hard shifting/slamming problem in my forward gears. I have tried the Wolfman cure, replaced the valve body with a rebuilt, input and output shaft nuts are tight, TPS replaced, valve body and EGR cleaned. When I disconnect the battery, the shifting is smooth for the first half-hour of driving. After that, when I take it out the slamming starts. I drive 30 minutes to work so in theory I could disconnect/connect the battery at home and at work, but that seems needless. Any suggestions would be lovely.

Is there any chance you're still using the original round nosed plastic coolant sensor?

I will check. Here is an update. Today I drove it for 30 minutes with no problems after having the positive to the battery disconnected for two days. Disconnected the positive, let sit for 6 hours, and drove home. The slamming returned immediately.

Every time you disconnect the battery or pull the PCM B fuse you reset the learned shifting patterns. It takes about an hour of gentle driving around residential neighborhoods where you **** up through all gears and allow the transmission to downshift through all gears as you come to a stop. No full throttle driving. Once learned do not be disconnecting the battery or pulling the PCM B fuse or you get to do this all over again.
