If that was local to me I might pay the $6K they want for it. I would manual swap it for sure. I miss my GEN1 sedan and wagon. I haven't seen a GEN1 around here for years.

I have a hard time believing the low mile craigslist adds of these cars with mechanical odometers. I have a friend who worked for Saturn from mid 90s up until they closed the doors. He said they had tons of warranty replacement on the odometer gears, almost 100% failure rate. The overall condition of a vehicle tells a lot, but sometimes still have a hard time believing it, even if the odometer currently works. Who's to say it didn't fail early on and have several miles put on it before the odometer was fixed?

Most of the ones that failed were 91-94. 95+ are much more reliable.

I have never seen a failed odometer in a 95 or later and only a few working ones pre-95....

Although you do see 98 and later digitals that are hard to read due to blown backlight bulbs ...

Window down isn't a good sign. Hopefully it hasn't been down during bad weather... Missing at least one door panel. Doesn't look too bad overall, except for the front end/hood. Wonder what that's all about, and I wonder why it's parked in his backyard. I wonder what he wants to trade for?

When someone claims a Michigan car is " no rust" - ask them if they can put it up on the lift and get you a few pictires...

Odds are one of three things -

1. They don't have a lift.
2. They have never looked at the undercarriage.
3. They're lying through their teeth.

I have looked at a multitude of S series in Michigan and have found a handful to be rust free....

Yup! Same, took me a while to find my S series in MI, and even it is in need of rust repair. Trailing arm mounts are still 100% intact, but they're bubbles and crusty so will need to be cut out and replaced in the next year or so.
