1995 SL1
Default Saturn Starter Cleaning Youtube Video

Does anyone have a link to the Saturn Starter cleaning/repair video?

I just searched on Youtube and wasn't able to find it.

For the past 4-5 days my '95 SL1 has been very sluggish to turn over or start. Today, it just makes the "clicking" noise. I'm hoping it isn't too difficult to pull apart, wire-brush clean, and re-install.

[Status] Car will not start. Fuel pump hums when ignition is turned on, car seems to have plenty of electrical power. My next step will be to check the battery terminal connectors to make sure everything is making a clean contact.

Thanks!

I disconnected the negative battery terminal. So far, everything looks to be pointing towards a faulty starter... When I climbed underneath my car to start removing the purple wire, I noticed that there was a black cable/hose hanging out. Is this problematic? Photo attached

Not sure, but I remember cboss saying that there was an evap hose that was covered in oil and disconnected when he looked under there? That'd be my guess

This is a cleaning video, but it's marked as private. Not sure what that's about - maybe you have to be logged in?

but this indicates 1995 (and earlier?) may be a little different
http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...=1#post1621952 edit: never mind, from your pic, you have the Valeo starter.

DBelectrical.com sells a Saturn starter for under $50 shipped. they also sell on ebay

A lot of men educators are seen on youtube nowadays, showcasing their art before the audience. I first read about this concept on https://uk.bestessays.com/research-paper-service.html and then I also started encouraging men at my home to run their youtube channels and portray their talents. I don't think it's a bad idea!

OK
Sluggish to turn could be weak battery ... but electric seems good.

Clicking (no turn) is pretty good indication of worn/dirty contacts
in the solenoid switch (can with contacts mounted on starter).

Dunno if replacement solenoids are available.
In the early 1990s,
when outsourcing was big, China (where most everything is mfgd)
did Not supply parts to U.S. rebuilders (I was told by a rebuilder).

The rebuilders in my area (LI, NY) now charge more to rebuild than
DB Electric charges to deliver a new starter--or alternator to my home.

On my '97 with about a 65 amp alternator, the rebuilder charged about
$50-. For the 90 amp alternators he charges $85, or a new one for $120-.

.................................................. .................

Other places voltage can drop:

o- Ig Sw

o- on TAAT , the park-drive-reverse-neutral safety switch is mounted
to tranny exterior, exposed to weather. On rusted old vehicles, that
switch can cause losses, i think. BUT YOUR ENGINE LOOKS CLEAN/NEW,
so unlikely issue.
