Default Looking at a 2007 Vue 3.5 AWD

Decently priced 2007 Vue for sale near me. I have a 2000 SL and I really like the Saturn brand. I really like this one because of the Honda power train. I test drive it today and it's a nice driving car. Seems to have a good bit of get up and go. That being said, what should I specifically look for as far as issues? I plan to ask dealer about timing belt/water pump tomorrow. It has 93K miles. AWD probably not abused as it is in NC.

THANKS!

Jthom,
The only other things to look at are has the trans been serviced per Honda specs or not at all??? It needs to be done per Honda spec, drain and refill with Honda fluid only. Then check out the service of the RDM/ rear diff with Versatrak fluid. I love my 07 3.5, and you are right... They do sorta scoot pretty well. And that scoot can sneak up on you kinda quick.

Also, get under the Vue and look at the center support bearing on the driveshaft. Make sure the rubber is in good condition (or there at all). You can also look for rust while you are under there. The sub-frame under the engine is the most likely place to find rust if there is any.

If you do buy it plan to replace all the fluids (oil, coolant, transmission fluid, RDM fluid) so you have peace of mind that it was done. If there is not good documentation for the timing belt and water pump replacement, then I'd budget for that in the next year. Other than that, enjoy! They are fun little boxes.

Well I did it. Nice little ride. Got it for way under MSRP. I plan on a fluid change this weekend. And budgeting for timing belt and water pump.

Are you planning on doing the timing belt yourself or taking it to a shop?

Probably do it myself. I have extensive mechanic experience. Speaking of, I guess I need to get to changing that intake gasket on the ol SL.

Just curious. I did mine myself also and it wasn't bad. The bolt that holds the crankshaft pulley on is a PAIN! Make sure you have the tool for it.
