Default Fuel Gauge stuck on full

The fuel pump went on my '08 Astra and I ordered the AC Delco replacement part from rockauto (much cheaper than the $650 CAD the dealership wanted) and had it replaced at a garage. Car runs well now but the fuel gauge is stuck on full. The garage said it was the part and I don't feel like going through the process to replace the fuel pump all over. Any suggestions? Is the sending unit part of the fuel pump assembly on the Astras? Was considering using a fuel additive to see if the would free up the arm a bit, or else I'm just gonna have to set the trip odometer and fill up every ~400kms. Thanks!

Default Re: Fuel Gauge stuck on full

According to the Rockauto pic of the AC Delco fuel sender is integral to the unit. It's possible that the float was bad from the factory or got damaged, disconnected, bent or stuck during installation or the wiring got messed up or broke.
This video describes the level sender operation.

European Astra fuel pump install video. Not sure if same for North American Astra.

Read up on health & safety before working on fuel system (disconnect battery, good ventilation, no smoking, no sparks, etc.).

If you are lucky, the connector just needs to be reseated. You may be able to measure resistance of the sensor at that connector to help diagnose.
