2002 L-Series 2.2L Sedan
Idea 02 L200 No Brakelights Culprit!

So, today this morning I finally got around to looking at my rear bulbs. Carpet back, disconnected all related wiring to avoid anything going haywire as I was fiddling with the bulbs and examined them.

Upon inspecting the bulbs I noticed the following:
Both sockets appeared to have burned contacts (on each socket, one contact was burned) and in turn the contact on the bulb was burned, and I'm assuming, leading to no brakelights!

Picture attached is a rough drawing of what it looks like.

Will get real pictures soon but my fingers are worn out from prying the darn bulbs out.

I remember someone on here saying the sockets were faulty so perhaps this could've happened because of them?

That is common to all brands however it is usually the taillight circuit that is burned. Our company policy is to burn all the lights to be seen. So every 5000 hours of run time or so the sockets melt out.

There was a recall issued for some earlier years of L Series.
I believe it involved a improved tail light socket

Actual pictures would help drawings aren't going to show what's damaged.

Had the same thing on mine a couple years back. Only solution was to replace the sockets entirely. Luckily its pretty easy to get them in and out. There was a recall for this on 00-04 models, so its a known issue.

Sanded down the burnt contacts and got some new bulbs. Temporary fix until I find some better sockets. Also, learned not too hold down the brakes for 30 or so minutes when in extended stopped periods; just put it in N/Handbrake
