Default Log Books

Anyone else keep a log book in the glove box?

It can be a valuable tool. I keep a small spiral notrbook in each car - and make an effort to log oil changes - other servicing - plus fixes. It also is good to enter your gas mileage when figured. It can sometimes help you start a problem before it gets critical.

Yep, I do this both manually like stated and electronically using an App. Someone stole the log book out of on of my vehicles several years ago and I did not have a backup. This is why I started using an app.

I use the owners manual - The maintenance record section page's boxes are crowded with tiny writing and I also make my own oil change stickers from the old multi colored labels that came with now obsolete computer diskettes and will take the old retiring stickers off from their place inside a little wall in my glove compartment door and press them into the blank pages.

I use the Notes app on iOS. Each car has it's own note, and within that Note I have different sections for the fuel log, oil change and topoff log, and maintenance.

On the '99 I had a logbook but eventually lost interest. My kid gained interest and has resumed recording everything.

Yes I do also.
Keep them in the garage near the tools. Too hard to remember which car got rotors and which is due for periodic maintenance etc …
fuel mileage I do at each fill up just for fun.

Yes, I'm on my second one with the Saturn. Over the past 25 years it's gotten it's share of oil changes, replacement parts, etc.

The digital record sounds like a good idea. I never considered the possibility of it being stolen.

I think it would be neat to have a record of oil changes, type of oil, oil use, etc. on several Saturns. I wonder what works best for these cars.

Yes, I have a small, oil-stained spiral notebook in the car documenting repairs, oil changes, maintenance, mileage milestones, etc. and a white board in the garage on which I write the dates and/or mileages that oil or fluids or other parts are due to be changed.

Same here. Just looked at mine today, mice got into the drawer with my logs and chewed and defecated all over them

I also use the Notes app my Samsung phone. Unfortunately, I didn't back up my notes when my previous phone got crunched by the SL's door as it fell out of my pocket a few years back. I had to look back on my Saturnfans posts and receipts to figure out when certain work on the car was done back then.

Thumbs Up Re: Log Books

I have kept log books for pretty much every vehicle we have ever owned (including motorcycles).
Especially so in the last year or so when none of them are seeing a whole lot of usage.
I find it very useful to check when oil changes are required by the passage of time rather than miles.
And I get a bit of a laugh over the monthly or even bi-monthly tank "top ups" now.
I also record all repairs, even minor ones, and any modifications I make along the way such as LED lighting and adding jack point pads.
It makes it a whole lot easier to figure out what was done later on.
