2004 VUE 2.2L
Default Front Sway Bar Clamp Bolt size

Hi, I have to change my front sway bar bushings to pass inspection. (personally I don't think they are that bad, but stations do what they can to pad the bill). I want to use new bolts on the clamps but the stock bolt is no longer available (11516549) and I can't find out what the bolt size is on-line. Any ideas?

I did find someone on ebay selling 4 class 10 bolts and 4 lockwashers that are supposed to fit, but they want $30. I think I can do better.

BTW, it's a 04 base Vue with the 2.2 and the manual trans.

Can't provide that data for you, but are you sure you're not getting ripped off?

I don't think sway bars are even required on cars much less part of a vehicle inspection. I know they aren't checked where I live in Texas.

Oh, I know I'm being ripped off. First shop I had do the inspection gave me a long list of suspension work that needed to be done, and that was pretty legit. (not the sway bar bushings, however) But they also gave me a list of exhaust work that they said needed to be done (they work with an exhaust shop). I didn't agree. So I fixed the suspension and rear brakes, and tried to run it through a second shop I've used in the past with no problems. They passed everything, including the exhaust, but failed it for the sway bar bushings. Many shops seem to be trying to make up for last year by insisting on questionable work to pass inspections.

I see some conflicting information between parts diagrams. Some are showing the part number you provided, others are showing 11515767 as the bolt you're looking for. The specs for this bolt are M10 x 1.5 x 35mm (diameter/thread pitch/length) and 10.9 grade. You should be able to find flanged bolts from a hardware store in that size.

I couldn't find any information for 11516549. Usually, GM is good about providing fastener specs with their part numbers.

Thanks, but I don't see a Saturn Vue application under that other part number. I would guess those specs are pretty close, however. It is weird there's no specs for the original bolt.

What source are you using? If your source is listing the part number you provided, then that's why you may not be seeing it. As I said before, I'm seeing conflicting information regarding this part. Most seem to show 11516549, but a few are showing 11515767.

Here's a link to my source. It is different than the diagrams most online sellers use, but has proven to be the most extensive and reliable over the years.

I received a reply from Doman that the bolts are M10-1.5X30 Class 10.9.
The 35s probably fit as well, but it is a blind hole and the 30s have a better chance of not bottoming out.
Thanks for the parts site, ruley. That will get saved in my Vue folder.

Thanks all

I recently started a new parts job at a GM dealership. 11515767 is the part number shown for these bolts with the same specs I mentioned earlier.

OEM Cat is a great source on OE parts and cross referencing.
