Post Vue Roof Rack and Rear Bumper Pad

I'm thinking about getting the rear bumper pad and roof rack for my new VUE. I haven't seen the bumper pad in person. Is it worth the $35. I have read other posts about the roof rack causing a lot of noticeable wind noise. What are your thoughts on the roof rack?

The rear bumper pad is definitely helpful as I would have definitely hacked it up by now...

Also, the roof rack has come in handy for my kayak (added Thule hull-a-port) and moving some old lumber to the dump. Far superior to most SUV racks that bow and cannot hold even close to the VUE's 100 lb. rating. Wind noise is bearable, all racks will make some noise while driving fast...

Rack makes it look a little cooler as well IMHO.

Saturn does offer a wind deflector for the roof rack. Although they call the Rail to Rail Sunroof Air Deflector, you don't need a sunroof to have it installed. It should help to better direct air over the vehicle instead of through the roof rack cross bars.

The rear bumper protection pad is worth the money, IMO.

Thanks for your opinions. I went down to the Saturn retailer this afternoon and had both installed. I liked them a lot. I agree the roof rack is very sturdy and the rear bumper pad adds a nice look and functionality to the rear of the vehicle. Thanks for your input!

What was cost and installation of each? Anyone know if Bumber Pad is a self install? If so, how?

The roof rack is $140 for the part, total was $218 installed. The bumper pad is $31. That is just double stick tape so it is an easy do-it-yourself. My retailer put it on for no extra charge since I was getting the roof rack installed.

Yep, I had the bumper pad installed when I got my VUE. I knew that with as much that would go in and out of the back of the vehicle the bumper would get scraped to hell. Besides, I think it makes it look better as well. A little more texture if you will.

Mine was installed free with the car as well. I did pay for the pad, but no labor. Not that its hard to place adhesive.
