Default Oil Change Question

well, I've hit my second oil change now, around 7000 since my last one. Before drop 100 bucks at the dealer to get it changed, i'm going to try it on my own. Bought the fliter today, and buying oil from Sams' club tomorrow.

Only question left is where the heck is the oil filter on the engine??

Right in front behind the superchager on the right side of the engine. It has a plastic cap with a 32mm hex nut on top or a 1 3/4 will work. You have to run the rachet from the top take off the cap pull out the filter and drop a new one in there ....there is not much room be patient.I take my own oil to the dealer(mobil one)and they put in for me for about $21 this price includes the filter. You might want to go that route.

just a question related to oil change. After my first oil change at (5000 km -> 3100 miles) my dealer told me I don't need one until 20 000 km (12 500 miles). Does this sound right? oh yea and they told me it's writen in the owner's manual. My manual doesn't specify for the RL.

My owners manual has nothing about the redline in it either. Since we're running synthetic, you might be able to get away with that, but I figured I'd go off of the indicator just to be safe

They fit pretty well actually. From what I've seen, with a 350 smallblock you have more room to work on it than the stock engine. I was thinking of putting in a 4.9 caddy v8 from the early 90's...

But yeah, people put all sorts of things in them, SC3800s, Northstars, LS1, LT1... the possibilities are nearly endless.

On the oil change front, I took my redline to an oil change place today (valvoline or sorts) and they looked at where the oil fiter was and said "Sorry, we can't change that. I don't see how you can possibly get to it without disconnecting all sorts of coolant hoses or the supercharger. Take it to the dealer"

Gotta love that!
