Default ATF Change Question

I looked in the How-To Library and have found different responses in the same thread. They are quoted below:

I'm going to change the fluid soon and want to make sure I purchase enough ATF, but don't want to over-purchase either. So how much should I buy?

Also, would I be okay using a Wix filter from O'Reilly's? My closest Saturn dealerships are 35 and 40 miles away.

WIX filter will be fine, you need 5 quarts of fluid, you will only use about 4.5.

Check your local Wal-Mart for Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. I got pretty lucky and picked up five quarts for $20 + tax last night in their clearance section. I know it's not a guarantee that yours will have it, but can't hurt to check.

Nice find! If I can get it for that price, I'll likely empty the shelf.
