Heads Up: Ordering a Throttle Body Gasket for a DOHC or SOHC

I recently had an idling issue (fixed now) and ordered a TB gasket from Autozone. Based on prior reports that (for some reason) the parts shops had the SOHC and DOHC part numbers reversed I ordered both versions for a 2002 SL from Autozone.

Looks like the part numbers are still screwed up as the one that was supposed to be for a SOHC was the one that is used in my 2002 DOHC (orange rubber type). If you are ordering online I would order both!!

I had the same problem with Advance. THe guy sent in a request to fix it. Dont know if it actually did get changed.

I have a dumb question...How are you guys breaking the gasket to require a new one?
Maybe it's just 'cause I've got 2-3 hanging on the wall and a new one in a package next to the WP gasket... lol

Could you list part numbers please? If both of these stores have everything mixed up then rock auto and others might be confused too. Part numbers would help clarify things.

Rock auto lists the same part number for single and dual cam, Felpro 61177.

It's the Inverse Preparedness Corollary to Murphy's Law. Gasket tears upon removal only if you don't have a spare on hand.

IIRC RockAuto has the listings fixed and they also have pictures. Get the part number and take it to the FLAPS and tell them you want 1 of these. If they start the year, make, model routine tell them you want that part number.
