Default How to bypass Neutral safety switch on 2008 aura

How do i bypass the neutral safety switch on my aura. It isn't a two pin connector like in older models. It is like 9 wires all in one plug. Which 2 will bypass it so i can test it?

The park/neutral safety switch are virtually trouble free, rarely failing with failure most likely from misadjustment.

justanswer shows a wiring diagram for '08 Aura XE; https://www.justanswer.com/saturn/gl...08-saturn.html. The answer covers 6 and 4 cylinder engines but wiring only for the 4cyl. Below is a copy of the wiring diagram. both neutral safety switches disable the starting circuit when in 'D' or 'R positions.

In general, troubleshooting a faulty n/s switch may be disconnecting and measuring for continuity on two pins, neutral and park, when moving the switch. All other pins should show zero continuity. The drawing shows pin 1 and 12 grounded in par or neutral position.

2008 AURA XE
Default Re: How to bypass Neutral safety switch on 2008 aura

Check the ground detailed in this thread, this caused a no crank, no start condition in my Aura XE. There are actually two halves to the PNP switch. One half feeds the gearshift position to the TCM, the other feeds neutral status to the ECM, this half will keep the car from cranking as will it's grounding point.

The other issue to check is the gear selector itself. There was a recall to correct an issue that could cause the gear selector to indicate the wrong gear or not allow the transmission to go into park. If this is causing your issue, jumping the neutral switch could be very dangerous as the engine could start while in gear.
Here is the recall detail:
