Default crazy wtf moment

last night we had a electrical storm after a day of running errands and here is where it gets weird. the power goes out in the house but not across the street so i go to hop in my car and check the rest of the block. my car is dead as hell the annoying door open ding happens the dome light turns on but nothing else works. the lights dont come on the dash panel and all the interior lights dont come on and everything shuts down when i turn the key past auxillery. now i have troubleshot the battery with jumper cables still no interior lights and or exterior lights come on but still the annoying ding and a faint dome light...also my gps is getting power in the ciggerete lighter port so i dunno wtf thats about. also if i do get a dash panel light on its either the service engine soon light that flashes up really quick or the security light that comes on real quick..so all in all i am confused as hell. anyone got any ideas where to start or is this car fried somehow in the storm lol?

Maybe your car got hit? I had a friend who was driving a minivan through the Arizona desert during a large monsoon thunderstorm, and got hit at 70 mph. It killed everything in the electrical system.

He said it was very eerie driving along with your ears ringing from the boom with no headlights down a deserted Arizona freeway. Of course this was only until the car came to a stop, since the engine was dead.
