Default Cooling fan mount?

Last weekend I replaced the radiator, the old one and the new one have the same attachment points for the cooling fan. If you look at the picture this is the passanger side upper fan attaching point but I see now way that it can attach other than the zip tie that I used. I got this car used and I am wondering if this is not the correct fan or if I am not seeing something or is something missing?
How is the fan supposed to attach? The hole in the arm of the fan is a lot smaller than the clip on the radiator but even if it was big enough it doesn't line up.

Having just replaced my radiator in my 94 SL2...there is a half circle oblong shape at the top where the cooling fan will slide into, along with a lip at the bottom on the passenger side. There is (1) 10 MM Bolt that holds the radiator and cooling fan assemby together on the Driver's Side.

I've reattached the picture with this info.

Make the image big to see the writing. The coolant fan "Slides" into the top groove, while "Sitting" in the bottom lip, on the Passenger side, while you attach the 10MM bolt on the Driver's side...that's the easiest and best way to describe it.

I have the bottom of the fan hooked on the lip that you mention and with that in place, as can be seen in the picture, the top sits lower than the clip that you are talking about. I was looking to see if I could hook the clip through the hole in the fan frame but the hole is to small. Would it be possable for you to take a picture of yours so I could see what it looks like?

From the picture you posted, and the one that richpin posted; it almost looks as if your coolant fan is not an OEM setup.

What year, make and model car do you have?

My car is a 94 SC2 and the Richpin picture looks definitely different from mine.
It might be time for a trip to pick n pull.

The fan setup in my car looks identical to richpin's car.

I would be interested in seeing the coolant fan that is currently in your car; Phil...it definately looks aftermarket or from another type of car completely...

As far as I know, the coolant fan and the support bracket it is mounted in, never changed over the entire run of the S-Series (91-02).

I'm willing to bet that the coolant fan that is in there is probably hardwired in, or has some kind of a hardwire into the coolant fan electrical connector.

It's not hardwired but it is definitely not the original, I'll see if I can get a picture and any name or numbers from it.
