I haven't been here for quite a while, and I totally procrastinated telling you all that my Satty, a 1992 SC, has turned 30 years old.
![]() At this time it's actually almost 30 and a half. It's still running fine, but certainly showing its age. The clear coat began to bubble and peel on a few spots last year, and one of the pop-up headlights cover doesn't want to close, so I've had had to keep them open all the time. The headlight itself works fine -- it's just the cover that's stuck. It's probably something simple to fix, but recently I haven't had the resources to repair it. I do wish I had the money to fix the peeling paint and make it look pretty again.... alas ![]() Anyway, I just wanted to post here for the record. Amazing how good this little car has been. And again, I'd like to thank the wonderful SaturnFans community for helping me keep it in good running order through all these years. Love you all ![]() ![]() ![]()

Congratulations!
We sold our 92 last year. So currently our 93 is the oldest. The pop ups really are not that bad to work on. Our 93 has one that sticks down - if it has been sitting a while. It requires being manually lifted once - then it will work fine provided it is cycled once in a while.

Congrats on 30 years
![]() Good to see that there are still a few of the older cars still on the road. I still have my 1994 Homecoming Edition. But it's going to be under the restoration process. It also has Historical Plates on it now. In Ohio, once a vehicle hits the 25 year old mark- it can get Historical Plates.

It's good to see that you guys have also kept your vintage Sattys. It's amazing how long these cars last given the proper care. And the paint job quality was awesome! My car has been parked outside for the past five years exposed to the hot sun and rain, and the clear coat only started to deteriorate last year. I'm sure that if it had been inside a garage, the clear coat would still be undamaged. The color itself (red) still looks good.
I really need to win the lottery or something to get it back looking nice. ![]()

30 years is a very long time for a car to last, good to know that there are still 1st gen SC2s that are not in junkyards.
I believe it is highly unlikely that I will ever see it in... Hawaii. ![]() ![]()

you actually can put a car on a boat and get it to hawaii that way, if you have the funds... i've seen a hawaii plate here in colorado and thought, "well, that car has been on a boat sometime recently"!

Congratulations! Glad to see how many years these cars are capable of lasting with a little care and luck. I never thought about this little economy car lasting so long when I bought my first one in 1992.

Congrats! 30 years and an original owner, to boot!
![]() I haven't been reading the forums for several months, glad I checked in today (this was the thread on top). Sounds like the motor may just need lubrication from what onlinebiker said. Not sure if it helps but I recall mention that one of the Corvette generations used the same motor for its popup headlights. These days, it might be easier / cheaper to source a reproduction/re-manufactured Vette part than a Satiurn part ![]() Quote:

That is dedication to the brand and the car. I'm glad you made it to 30 years. It's probably easier when you own one of the best looking cars Saturn ever made, but that alone doesn't make it easy.

Little late to the thread but I drove my '96 SW2 off the Saturn lot 26 years ago, tomorrow (5/18/96). Not the 30 yrs that the OP mentioned, but the longest I've ever kept a car. I think about the only thing that will keep this one from getting to 30 years is if it should ever need a replacement part made from unobtanium.
