I have finally managed to swap out the rear brakes and subframe. My 1999 SC1 now has a rear sway bar, and disk brakes. I also swapped out the parking brake cables, and brake hoses. They all work. I test drove it, and it stops, and the pedal does not pulse, but I did hear a noise coming from the PR brake that sounds like a bicycle wheel that is not true rubbing on rim brakes, or an old steam train chugging sound. I may want to put those rotors on a lathe.

I also got reunited with the SES light, and the codes P0172 (running rich), P0733 (gear 3 incorrect ratio), and P0340 (cam position sensor).

The problem I was having with my engine running rich was caused by me replacing bad fuel injectors with more bad fuel injectors. This problem has been solved by installing fuel injectors that work correctly. They came off an SL that did not seem to have air conditioning or power steering, but I had assumed they never made 2nd gens like that. Anyway, I also replaced the front oxygen sensor, and the only problem that It still has is P0733. The transmission acts up sometimes, the RPM goes up for no reason, and this code appears a few seconds later. I do not know if emissions tests in colorado care about error codes related to the transmission, but there is only one way to find out. I will have it tested at the next oprotunity.

I am finally selling the parts off of my 2001, there are pictures in this thread. http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=270563
Also, I seem to have lost the title to my 1999, the only proof that we own that car, and my dad might eventually figure out how to get that problem solved, by harassing people at the DMV, what fun!

I came out to work on my 1999 SC1 yesterday, and was greeted by a lake in the driver side footwell. I spent the rest of the day scooping water out with a cup, and sucking more water out with a syringe. I knew that the water came from the sunroof. I tried blowing compressed air through the drain hoses, but they were already clear. The actual drain holes are TINY, and are easily overwhelmed when water POURS into the sunroof, causing the rail to overflow. They seem to drain more effectively when the vehicle is level, so I put the front wheels on ramps, and it worked! (Catalytic converter thieves please stay away!)

[QUOTE=lanxer57;2372904I tried blowing compressed air through the drain hoses, but they were already clear. [/QUOTE]

You sure that some of the drain hoses haven't become detached from the sunroof drain nipple? They are clipped in and sometimes blowing compressed air will shoot them off the nipple on the drain rail. If it has been worked on before is it possible the clips were not re-installed. It's also possible the line has cracked.

I've never had a sunroof leak like that no matter how severe the rain is. There are 4 drains; one on each corner. When you put water in the drain pan do you see water coming out under the car behind the front tires and near the rear tires (4 spots)? If you don't this may give you a clue as to which line has an issue.

It's also possible that the water is coming from the HVAC fresh air intake (see pic below). If the oval seal with the screen is gone of failed; water will drain into your HVAC system and onto your floor. Also, check the 2 holes mentioned by OldNuc in this quote.....
Quote:
There are 2 circular depressions up on the cowl in the same panel as the oval air intake, one on each side. They are about 1-1 1/4" in diameter and have an elongated hole in the center. These should have a piece of rectangular mastic material sealing these holes and if not you will get wet.
and the AC drain mentioned in this quote...

Quote:
The other possibility would be the HVAC drain on the firewall is clogged. The A/C evaporator within the HVAC behind the dash has a drain that exits through the firewall. This allows any condensation from the evaporator to drip down and exit the interior and drip onto the ground. You can use a pen or pencil to poke into the drain and unclog it. You'd need to access it from under the car.

It may be leaking through those, but if it is, than it is also leaking from the sunroof, because the headliner was also still damp, and stained from the water. I also tested this multiple times with a garden hose gently pouring water on the sunroof. This test is also how I figured out that it drains better when level. The drain tubes at the back probably add to this. It does not overflow when level, but a "sucking" sound can be heard as the water drains out the tubes. (which are attached, I pulled them off to blow air in them, but never saw any clips on the 1999, or 2001) Also, the water leaking in the sunroof from a garden hose looks like a waterfall on the passenger side, maybe that has something to do with the problem.

My car battery ran low while driving a few days ago, and it died idling in the driveway yesterday. When this happens, the transmission starts slipping, the radio shuts off, gauges fail intermittently, the engine idles rough, and eventually stalls. This was caused by the alternator failing, and I replaced it today with the alternator off my 2001. This is the dirtiest alternator that I have ever seen, caked in grease, and with pieces of debris inside the housing. This is what I believe caused it to fail, and most of the debris in the alternator seemed to come from the firewall insilation, which was disintegrating along with the hood insilation. I tore the firewall insilation apart (what was left of it), and removed the hood insilation intact. during a test drive, it did not die, and nothing caught fire. I am not worried about heat damage to the paint, it is in poor condition anyway.

My 1999 SC1 has finally passed emissions testing, and been registered. I have put license plates on it, as well as the SCCNA sticker from Dummos holiday contest (try and spot it), and a new set of windshield wipers. I am still working on the automatic transmission http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...=270413&page=2(no, I am not swapping it with a manual), and I have also noticed that there is about 2-3 inches of play in the steering wheel, accompanied by a clunk at the point where the wheels actually begin to turn, and when the vehicle goes over bumps. The wheels seem to be connected with each other when pushed with the vehicle on jack stands, but the steering wheel still seems loose under those conditions. I suspect the rack/pinion more than the tie rods.
