Default 02 LW300 piece identification

Hello everyone,

I have a 2002 Saturn LW300 and I noticed a cracked piece. What is this piece and could it be causing any problems for my car?

That is part of the crankcase breather system. L300s have an overly complicated pcv system. Must be the German Engineering, I have seen Mercedes with a similar system. That crack will let unmetered air into the system and should be replaced.

Alright thank you!! I recently had some work done on the car and is now misfiring. They cracked that piece when reassembling it and I am bringing it back tomorrow to get that taken care of.

There is actually a backstory to it all. I had a cracked oil pan and had it replaced. Then oil got in the engine and spark plugs and was misfiring. They cleaned the oil, changed the spark plugs and seals to them. The engine ran better after that but then started misfiring after driving 50 miles. Looked under the hood and found that cracked piece that wasn't cracked before the spark plug work. Going to get that fixed and see what happens.

If you can't get that from RockAuto or such a Salvage yard is your next best option.
