thinking of rebuilding my taat trans

I am thinking about rebuild my 94 sl2 taat transmission it has a rebuild valvebody on it. I know that the reverse gear is stripped because with the vale body off i can easily see the gear. I have pretty good mechanic skills. Is this something that i should attempt or are there to many special tools i will need for tear down. Any input would be great thanks.

i'd leave it to a transmission shop to rebuild your trans to tell the truth. There are some special tools needed and its a lot of work.

not worth the hassle if you know its just the valve body, swap it with a junkyard one.

Yeah, agreed. These cars are usually plentiful in the junkyards (at least around here) I'd go for a good deal at a yard, it'll probably cost you less money than buying all the new parts you need to rebuild yours, not to mention if you need to buy some special tools.

Most decent yards will give you some sort of guarantee with a big item like a tranny, so call around. What area are you located in?
