Any things we should be thinking about. I already have a 2004 V6 Vue so I know this angle and like the car, especially the Honda power train. But my son needs an inexpensive vehicle with good fuel consumption.
The Hyundai Tuscon looks to have good value with the 555 warranty, side curtain air bags & anti-lock with traction control for about the same price as the Vue. The interest rate here is Canada is also a little lower. He has had a Tiberon previously and the quality is not half bad. Tuscon is also getting quite good reviews. Would appreciate hearing from others who went through this consideration and why they decided on the Vue. Thanks. |

All I can warn you about is the cruddy gas mileage I've read about online.... do a google search and read some posts. Just take note of that.

Read the warranty carefully. If you don't have all of your maintenance done at the dealer, it is nullified.
It also doesn't cover things such as A/C refrigerant or some parts... ~D.J.~

I pulled this up with a quick run to their website. It doesn't have all of the tine print, but read what it covers and does not. I have to leave for a charter to Detroit in a few, so I'll have to dig later for the stipulations about them not doing warranty work with no maintenance, but I have seen it somewhere. ~D.J.~

Green line is coming out in about 6 or so months.
Other pros for Saturn are the dent resistant panels. I see a lot of cars dinged up on the sides here in the suburbs of Chicago. General impressions for me is that the VUE is a better build and quality. I've really never heard good things from people who have rented or owned Hyundai. Finally, if your really that close, buy American or buy Canadian. I don't mean to start the ol foreign car debate but in the US, the parts sticker counts Canadian. GM needs your help! ![]() ![]() |

Reminds me of the quote in Tommy Boy regarding warranties..lol
The 4 cyl Tuscon has less HP, less Torque, weighs more, and gets slightly worse fuel economy than the Saturn. I know everyone always says, but it really is going to be hard to get my next vehicle and not have it..it's saved me alot of in terms of dents... The safety features of the Tuscon are a big plus. I still think Saturn should make the airbags standard..companies seem to get alot of mileage out of touting standard safety The 2006 VUE is significantly enhanced over previous years. I say test drive both. |

I always wondered how hyundai could offer such a warranty and still stay in business.

My son had a hyundai and was always a battle to get warranty work done. Bumper to bumper my butt!
That being said, when was the last time you saw a hyundai club or fans site? |

To me the FWD 4 Vue would be my choice even if i wasn't so Saturn biased. Yeah, Hyundai has that 10 year 100K warranty but like others have said it has its catches. What's more, IIRC, the hidden cost of owning a Korean vehicle is the cost of parts and repairs outside of warranty. Hyundai and Kia has come a long way but i'm still leery about them. i don't think any small SUV will beat the 4/manual Vue's mileage. The '06 is such a quantum leap over previous Vue models it seems like a complete redisign. i think all things considered 6 Shiftin, a V6 FWD like u have is a great buy too-affordable, and great mileage (and 250 HP) so don't it count too? i'd get one myself if i didn't owe so much on my '03.......

Not that it's an apples to apples comparasion but my wife has an 06 Sonata...not only did we pick it over the Camry and Honday...it flat out rocks...booming system, 235 hp, zero to sixty in 7.0 seconds, banging rims, and loaded with safety features and a five star crash test...
our 01 Elantra went to 60000 miles before we sold to family and it had no worries and was a much nicer ride with similiar gas mileage to most saturns... and yes we do currently have an 95 SL1 as a beater work car...that does fine...be advised though...the korean cars are marching |

I'd go for the VUE before the Tucson. The Tucson is basically a new vehicle whereas the VUE is now in it's fifth year of production so there's been time to get all the bugs out and solve the problems.
The 2006 VUE is way ahead of the previous models years with a much more refined interior and some exterior re-design. The Ecotec 2.2L is a good engine which will last for years. Besides, there's no competition when it comes to the polymer panels. I have no hesitation in opting for the VUE over the Tucson and intend to trade my 2003 FWD VTi for a 2006 2.2L automatic VUE in 2006. As for the 10 year 100.000 warranty read the fine print, and I'd still take a 2006 VUE with 3/36 over a Tucson with 10/100,000. |

I've owned a 1999 Hyundai Tiburon previously. It was a good car overall. However, I can't say it didn't have it's problems. The day I drove it off of the lot, the check engine light came on. The dealership fixed it. But it left worry in my mind for quite awhile.
On another note, tomorrow I will gladly add to my garage a silver 2006 VUE REDLINE!!! ![]() I am sooooooooo excited! If you want a REDLINE! Order it! The one's we looked at weren't quite what we wanted. They built it and delivered it to the dealer in 9 days!!! But back to the Hyundai vs. Saturn issue. Recently I read that Toyota is concerned more about Hyundai than any other Rice burner company.. Food for thought... |
