I have a 2001 SL2 which developed a crack in the heater hose port on the intake manifold. "Plastic Intake Manifold" I've see some options, people cutting that back and chasing the crack, etc... All kind of look like a band aid short of changing the manifold out.
Here is my question, I have Aluminum manifolds, has anyone swapped an aluminum manifold in where a plastic one was. I have all the parts already. Just concerned that the PCM and emissions related readiness monitors will be happy. Has anyone done this swap???? I'm thinking it would be the best reliable fix if it plays well. Anyone have an opinion? |

Old aluminum manifolds are not a direct swap onto a 3rd gen, they do bolt up though. Primary issues are throttle body and fuel rail.

The biggest issue as to why aluminum manifolds do not work on 2000-2002 cylinder heads are the design of the intake ports themselves.
When the casting/manifolds were changed, the port design was changed to match the plastic manifold. Get the Dorman replacement.
