Drivers side rear door won't open

Guys,

Can I remove the door panel with the door closed? I cannot get the door to open and am thinking that I need to access from the inside. How do you remove the door panel from the inside with the door closed?

Removing the door from the inside wont reveal much. You have to remove the outer door panel. But the door has to be open to do that.

The latch is most likely damaged, I've seen it happen a few times. The only way to open the door is to smash apart the latch using a long screwdriver down between the glass and door frame from the outside.

Thanks. I did finally get it open and removed the latch. It was rusted solid. I think I will coat the new one with anti seize.

So we don't need to bash apart the panel to bash the latch to pieces? Then pay $20 for a can of paint on the new panel? Sweet, I'll let a friend of mine know...he hasn't been able to open the driver side rear door since he's owned it.

The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a manual
