What's in my coolant bottle?

My coolant bottle has 3 cracks, so I got a replacement from the junk yard. I notice there's a electronic connector on the bottom of the bottle and inside of the bottle, there's a little device. What is that device, is it a temperature detector?

That's the coolant level float/sender...you should have a little
electrical plug to attach to it that was attached to the old tank...
