2004 VUE 2.2L
Default Code scanner that worked for me

As some of you may know, the VUE's codes can be difficult to read by some scanners available at some autopart stores. I went to 3 different stores and finally got the code read.

The scanner I used was made by Innova and is their 3120 LaT model.

I purchased a cheap OBD 2 Bluetooth code reader from amazon and use my android phone with torque app. It reads and clears codes just fine. Here is the link to the reader....since I can't post links yet type in amazon . com/gp/product/B005NLQAHS/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 (remove spaces before and after period)

I've been happy with the Ultragauge - reads/clears codes, plus all of the other functions it offers (trip stuff, mpg stuff, coolant temp in degrees, o2 voltages and more).

Sorry to bump an older thread, but my VUE threw a code and none of the scanners I have access to can read it. I just want to make sure the one in that link definitely works before I drop $23 on it, plus the app on the phone. Claw, have you run into any issues with it?

Read the reviews...Torque is the best thing out there...and dirt cheap. 23 buck plus a 4.99 app? How cheap are you? None and I mean NONE of the dedicated scanners you can buy are as good...scangauge included.

I've had it for two years, and am now on my second bluetooth adaptor- those things you have to watch that you get the right one. You want the CBT one.

BTW, I had an ultragauge. Nice little unit, but ultimately a POS. It started displaying gibberish 4 months after I got it. I bought it after my first blue tooth adaptor died...price wasn't bad and it had all the needed stuff. Horrible quality display though.

Pretty cheap, considering I'm 17 I was really just asking about the BT adapter, I'd rather not have it die on me, also with the compatibility of the VUE. I'll order it tonight, I got paid unexpectedly yesterday

Edit: Which one is the CBT one?

This isn't the CBT one, they showed a picture of one that didn't match mine. The BAFX one has the best reviews....and it looks identical to mine- not thats saying much with this chinese stuff.

I used mine to diagnose a bad misfire on a Toyota highlander today...useful gadgets!

I bought that same bluetooth scanner. Had it about a week now and i love it. Reads codes and all engine info flawlessly with Torque. I didnt have any codes on the vue so i pulled an intake sensor and made it throw one. Read it correctly and right away

I got mine, it couldn't seem to pull any codes even though both the SES and SVS lights are on. I cleared them and the SES went away. Then I put electrical tape behind the SVS light, since I'm pretty sure that's just a cluster compatibility issue. I have a gas cap on order, that's what was causing the SES a while back, and if it comes back I'll have to try it again. Were you guys checking codes with the engine running? I only did it with the ignition on run, I didn't start it. Maybe that's why no codes came up? When started, the engine RPM worked, and the coolant temp showed, and the SES codes cleared so I know that its working okay, just not sure why it couldn't pick up any codes. It said "No codes stored in ECU"
