Default 3D printer turned plotter/cutter

I've been into 3D modeling and printing for a few years now. My fist printer was a cheaper FLSun brand machine that I had to assemble myself. It worked pretty good for the money, and I enjoyed putting the thing together too just because I'm a "tinkerer" at heart lol.

Fast forward a couple years and I got a little better machine, an XYZ Davinci, and have been using it for my 3D printing while the old machine was retired to the closet.

Well last week I stumbled on something with isn't a new thing at all, but it intrigued me and made me want to try it. Turn the old 3D printer into a plotter/drawer and vinyl sticker cutting machine!

I've got the cutting tip already and various colors of vinyl to play with, I'm just waiting on the cutting mat to arrive in the mail before I can actually sick a blade on the head. For now, I mocked up a Sharpie on the thing and played around with some software trying to get the setup right and figure out how to make my own images and files correctly that will plot out or cut out on the machine.

And well, this is my first result Might even be the first decal I print with it, and I'll throw it on the 98 SL2 lol

Anywho, just wanted to share, and if there's any other members on there that are into 3D printing and modeling, I'd love to see your setups and projects!

I haven't gotten into the 3D printing thing yet, but had my first plotter about 25-26 years ago. The first software I had was DOS based even.

Plenty of fun stuff you can do once you get cutting things. Some of the first vinyl plotters were based on the old flatbed drafting plotters, so it's sort of a re-invention of the first designs really.
