So, I probably jumped too soon on my daughters SC2. Overlooked some things and I’ll have to pay the price eventually.
So. Are body panel available anywhere? I’d like to toss the sunroof out and put on a new solid steel roof painted to contrast the car. white with black roof. Are there any really good Saturn parts places? Gosh I can get more for my 64 Corvair! |

Body parts for a car this old are most likely to have to come from a junk-yard. Replacing it is surely not going to be easy, if you want it to not look like a "scab on" job. Have you considered just permanently sealing the sun-roof in place; maybe even replacing just the sun-roof panel with something in better shape or sturdier?

The roof panel is spot welded to the car before the front & rear windows are installed on top of it. Not impossible to replace, but best if done as part of a stripped to frame restoration. Seam sealer or silicone around the glass seam to the roof line is probably the best course of action.
Other year's swap exterior body parts with no issue other than the door panels have nut clips placed into them that often rip the plastic rather than let the bolt loosen. '91-'96 '97-'00 (other than driver rear quarter & glass on optional '99/'00 3dr's) '01-'02. As for the white body black roof idea... ![]() |

So I’m 66 years old with not an original Idea! I gotta send that pic to my Daughter!
When I was doing the 64 Corvair I could get almost everything I needed from one supplier. I was SO hoping that there would be some Love for these cars too! Thanks guys |

actually, that's incorrect. the roof panel is a bolted-on part sealed with the same polyurethane as the windows. it does however require removal of the windshield and rear window to replace.

Two days ago, I was talking to my neighbor about the same thing. How to make the car more visible to the “speed limit+15” zombie hoards, without making the car look too stupid. No conclusion
![]() The roof is bolted on, with urethane sealant all around. The roof can be removed, after removing all the glass (all_the_glass) on the car. Like fetchitfido wrote, it is not a task for the whimsical. Maybe a glass removal tool manufacturer could sponsor a YouTube video. |
