There is an oil passage back in that area that feeds oil to the cylinder head. About all you can do is get a new head gasket and new head bolts and dig in. In either 1999 or 2000 model year the cylinder head was redesigned a little bit for the air pump system and I believe they made the head narrower, not sure completely on that but I've never seen any of the pre-99/2000 heads leak there.
